Edgar A. Gamboa, MD is a Board Certified general surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons. He practices at Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula and Watsonville Community Hospital. He is also a fellow of SAGES (Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons). Dr. Gamboa brings a wealth of experience and skill as he treats patients using state-of-the-art, minimally invasive surgical techniques and equipment for gallbladder and hernia repair procedures. Additionally, he performs endovenous ablation procedures and Venefit™ targeted endovenous therapy using radiofrequency heat for treatment of varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency. These new techniques result in shorter recovery times and less risk to patients.
Using laser or radio-frequency energy, Dr. Gamboa is able to close off varicose veins and restore more normal circulation for his patients. These minimally invasive procedures reduce discomfort and recovery time, as well as delivering superior results.
Laparoscopic Surgery
Laparoscopic surgery allows the surgeon to use specialized tubes to enter the body without making a large incision to open the body and work directly on organs, blood vessels, and other tissues. Many laparoscopic procedures require only 4 or 5 small incisions or openings. These incisions generally are very small and leave only minimal scarring. Due to reduced size of the incisions and blood loss during surgery, patients typically experience faster healing and return to normal activities of their daily lives.
